The Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection’s (DLCP) Office of Weights and Measures and Consumer Protection Unit will offer a convenient pop-up inspection event on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Lot 8 at the RFK Memorial Stadium, located at 2400 East Capitol Street, SE.
During this event we will offer the following services with no appointment or pre-registration required:
Inspection or re-inspection of commercial weighing, measuring, and/or scanning devices used by farmer’s market merchants
Online registration of your device for Fiscal Year 25 (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025)
What to bring: Your device(s) that need inspection or re-inspection, a valid government-issued ID, and credit card for registration payment (optional)
General Business License Bootcamp Part 2- In Person- Marshall Heights - Thu, Sep 26
The General Business Bootcamp comprises three complimentary sessions aimed at providing comprehensive training on the regulatory procedures administered by the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection, and it's entirely free of charge.
During the initial session, participants will receive a broad introduction to the regulatory processes. Second session will require you to come in and check your status on obtaining your business license (what steps have you completed). Upon returning for the third session, attendees are required to possess:
Corporate Registration/Trade Name Registration (Not Applicable) for LLCs or Sole Proprietors.
Registration with the Internal Revenue Service and DC Tax and Revenue, including an EIN, FR500, and Clean Hands Certification.
The second session will delve into the specifics of applying for a General Business License. By the conclusion of this three-part training, attendees who have submitted the requisite documentation and paid the applicable fees to obtain their General Business License.
Attendance at all three sessions is mandatory.
The first session will focus on imparting information. In contrast, the second session will concentrate on status updates and on third session will focus on processing (attendees should bring all necessary documents and ensure fees are paid).
