DC Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Information

Looking to access public records in the District of Columbia?  The public policy of the District is for anyone to have full and complete access to the information regarding the affairs and official actions of public officials and employees, unless specifically exempted by District law.  All District government agencies are required to make certain documents available on their websites for public access, if they exist.  If the documents are not available online, one may submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on the DC FOIA Portal, by mail, fax, or e-mail.  For information about the FOIA process, including response timelines, please visit foia.dc.gov.

If you are unable to find a public record online or have questions about the FOIA process, please contact DLCP’s FOIA Officer.
