WASHINGTON (February 18, 2026) — On Wednesday, February 18, Director Tiffany Crowe, representatives from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Board of Directors, staff from the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP), and members of the District’s Board of Professional Engineering attended a signing ceremony at the British Embassy to formalize the District’s participation in the United States–United Kingdom Mutual Recognition Agreement (US–UK MRA).
The US–UK MRA establishes a streamlined pathway for professional engineers licensed in the District to obtain recognition to practice in the United Kingdom. In turn, UK‑chartered engineers will be able to pursue licensure to practice in the District through a reciprocal process. This agreement supports increased professional mobility and reflects the growing need for cross‑border engineering collaboration.
Participation in the US–UK MRA aligns with DLCP’s ongoing efforts to expand occupational and professional licensure pathways. By reducing administrative barriers and recognizing comparable professional standards, the District continues to strengthen opportunities for engineers to work globally while maintaining rigorous public‑protection requirements.
The signing ceremony, held at 5:30 p.m. at the British Embassy, brought together regulatory partners from both nations to acknowledge the shared commitment to supporting a modern, mobile engineering workforce.
