National Weights and Measures Week (March 1-7) and National Consumer Protection Week (March 2-8) highlight the importance of fair business practices, accurate transactions, and informed consumer decisions. These observances recognize the role of regulatory standards in everyday commerce and consumer protection. Established by the National Council on Weights and Measures (NCWM), Weights and Measures Week emphasizes uniform standards in trade, while the Federal Trade Commission leads Consumer Protection Week, focusing on consumer rights and fraud prevention.
The Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) is committed to supporting businesses and consumers by providing resources, education, and oversight. To mark these important weeks, DLCP will host and participate in several events across the District, offering valuable information on consumer rights, business compliance, and the complaint process.

DLCP representatives will be available at the following locations from 10 AM to 3 PM to share information and answer questions:

· Tuesday, March 4 – Safeway (1100 4th Street SW)

Additionally, on Friday, March 7, from 11 AM to 3 PM, DLCP’s Consumer Protection Unit (CPU) will host an information table in the DLCP lobby (1100 4th St. SW) to assist consumers and provide helpful resources.
Consumer Protection in the Community
DLCP’s Consumer Protection Unit (CPU) will also attend Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) meetings throughout the District to share insights on DLCP’s mission, consumer complaint investigations, and ways residents can report concerns.
