ADVISORY: Official Notification - Temporary Prohibition on Parking and Vending in Designated Areas
WASHINGTON, DC – The Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection released a letter today to inform vendors about upcoming prohibitions and restrictions on parked vehicles and vending due to security measures for Independence Day celebrations in Washington, DC, detailing specific areas and times affected, advising on alternative legal vending zones, and warning of potential penalties for non-compliance.
July 4th Independence Day Celebrations
In coordination with the security plan for the July 4th Independence Day Celebrations on the National Mall and Monument Core area, the United States Park Police will implement measures requiring the closure of several streets and sidewalks.
Vendors must relocate from the following areas starting at midnight on Monday, July 1, 2024, through 1:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024:
• 3rd Street from Independence Ave SW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 4th Street from Independence Ave SW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 7th Street from Independence Ave SW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 12th Street from Independence Ave SW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 14th Street from Independence Ave SW to Constitution Avenue, NW
Additional Restrictions from Midnight on Monday, July 1, 2024, through 1:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024:
• 15th Street from E Street NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 17th Street from E Street NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 18th Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
• 19th Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
• 20th Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
• 21st Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
• 22nd Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
• 23rd Street from Constitution Ave NW to Virginia Avenue NW
Please be advised that failure to comply with these restrictions will result in the towing and potential impoundment of any vehicle(s) or property found in violation of the prohibitions in the aforementioned locations during the specified time periods. Vendors licensed in the District of Columbia are, however, permitted to vend in any other legal vending zone (mobile and stationary, as appropriate) for the days these restrictions are in place.
