Surety Bond Details

 

Auto Repossessor Business Bond ($25,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Auto Repossession Business) must post an Auto Repossession Bond in the amount of five thousand ($25,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
 

Auto Repossessor Bond ($5,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Auto Repossessor) must post an Auto Repossessor Bond in the amount of five thousand ($5,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
 

Consumer Goods Auto Repair Bond ($2,000/$5,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Consumer Goods Auto Repair)  must post a Corporate Surety Bond for the duration of the two-year license period in an amount based upon the number of employees in the establishment:

  • Employers with five or fewer employees must submit a Surety Bond in the amount of two thousand dollars ($2,000) dollars.
  • Employers with more than five employees must submit a Surety Bond of five thousand ($5,000) dollars.
 

Employment Agency Bond ($50,000/$100,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for an Employment Services Business (Employment Agency) must post a $50,000 Employment Agency Surety Bond or a $100,000 Employment Agency Surety Bond for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection for the following amounts:
  • If the average fee for a job seeker is $2,000 or more and the Employment Agency business enters into contracts with 100 or more job seekers per year, a bond in the amount of one hundred thousand ($100,000) dollars shall be filed.
  • If the average fee for a job seeker is less than $2,000 and the Employment Agency business enters into contracts with fewer than 100 job seekers per year, a bond in the amount of fifty thousand ($50,000) dollars shall be filed.

 

Employment Counseling Service Bond ($50,000/$100,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for an Employment Services Business (Employment Counseling Service) must post a $50,000 Employment Counseling Service Surety Bond or a $100,000 Employment Counseling Service Surety Bond for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection for the following amounts:
  • If the average fee for a job seeker is $2,000 or more and the Employment Counseling business enters into contracts with 100 or more job seekers per year, a bond in the amount of one hundred thousand ($100,000) dollars shall be filed.
  • If the average fee for a job seeker is less than $2,000 and the Employment Counseling business enters into contracts with fewer than 100 job seekers per year, a bond in the amount of fifty thousand ($50,000) dollars shall be filed.
 

Health Spa Bond/Health Spa Sales Bond ($25,000/$50,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Health Spa/Health Spa Sales)  must post a Health Spa Surety Bond/Health Spa Sales Surety Bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period for annual membership sales of up to one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). A Surety Bond in the amount of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for annual sales exceeding one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

 

Home Improvement Surety Bond ($25,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Home Improvement Contractor) must post a Home Improvement Surety Bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

 

Motor Vehicle Dealer Bond ($25,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Motor Vehicle Dealer) must post a Motor Vehicle Dealer Bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

 

Pawn Broker Bond ($5,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Pawn Broker)  must post a Corporate Surety Bond in the amount of five-thousand ($5,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The bond must have two (2) or more sufficient sureties, whose liability as such securities shall not exceed the said sum in the aggregate; except that the execution of any such bond by a fidelity or surety company authorized by the laws of the United States to transact business in the District. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

 

Solicitor Bond ($500)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Solicitor) must post a Solicitor Surety Bond in the amount of five hundred ($500) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.

 

Tow Truck Business Bond ($25,000)

All applicants for a Basic Business License for a Regulated Business (Tow Truck Business) must post a Tow Truck Business Surety Bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars for the duration of the two-year license period. The Surety Bond may be issued by an authorized insurance carrier, or the applicant may post a cash bond with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
